So should we go back while we finish this site or stay here permanently? All opinions welcome  :guitar

Given this has been properly live for a few days, it's probably a good opportunity for feedback which can be implemented, but back to Yucky for a bit.

Feedback:

Correct the spelling of "Fared" in the profile drop-down for choosing which Fazer you own  :D

If we do that DILLIGAF we will end up with two seperate forums. YUKU will never die if people are still using it.

I think take the feedback from the last couple of days, go back to YUKY and laucnh this one properly in the near future once we have worked out how to migrate the good bits from the old forums. When we move, YUKY needs to be made read-only with a big message pointing the way to teh new and improved forums.
Another ex-Fazer rider that is a foccer again

Yuku is still down for me
But once its back up fully we should go back until you guys are ready for the move. rather than having the move thrust upon you because yuku went down.
BIG respect for you getting it to this stage. It works and seems stable. most of the rest of it is just cosmetic trimmings and posts/stickies

Thanks for all the feedback. You are all of course right, we should stay with Yuku until this place is ready, then let people get used to it over a month say, then go 'live' and make the Yuku board read-only.

peterjca thank you it now says faired :thumbup

Christ, I wasn't paying attention, and nearly got left behind  :\
The only real Fazer is a carbed 600.

You need to make a decision on how you are going to move forward as it's impractical, confusing and messy having the two boards running in tandem.

Two boards is ideal for those of us with split personalities!

Easto :woot :woot :woot :woot

So what do you think? Was all that early testing worth the effort? And are you sticking around or flying visit only??

Hodge - thanks for the comment :)

Farjo,

I pop in from time to time still,  just busy sorting things out for the last year or so.  The new site seems just like the old one,  from what little I've seen,  so that can't be a bad thing.

The old one? Do you mean Yuku or an old one we tested?

Good luck with your sorting.

Does everyone who uses YUKU know of the proposed changes? To promote awareness of this site you could:
1. Stick a banner at the top of the current YUKU site with the new sites address
2. Have a "sticky" topic in the Featured Topics section on YUKU

I think those who "run" the site and do all the work should decide a time when they feel is right to switch the old one off for want of a word and migrate to the new one.

Perhaps having a readily available link to this version prior and get people used to the new site would be an option?

I've migrated systems before and the only way is

- pick a date
- tell everyone how to migrate
- tell everyone that they will be marooned after date X
- do it

There are 2 other very important steps
- Shoot the whingers (usually involves threatening them with poor performance appraisals)
- Kill the stragglers ("Oh dear, has your database stopped working?)

IBM370 anyone ?
