noise
« on: 02 June 2015, 06:02:17 pm »
I am after some advice
when i brought my house behind was fields now its an industrail estate
and over the last five years the problem has got worse and worse
now every night we are subjected to cars roaring around racing tyres screaming and people shouting
The cars have massive exhaust and can be heard the other side of the town over a mile away  the do actually race and have drawn a starting gride on the road , the also drifting  and spining ( spinning=driving around and around tyres screeching around a rounabout)
now a new one, exhaust igniters , these sound like a machine gun going off some times this will go on till 2am in the morning
the culprits dont care and have bragged on face book that the police cant do nothing !
and the police seem to treat it as , as long as its out of the town centre its not realy an issue !
I can sit in my front room and hear this over the tv and in the summer we HAVE to close all the windows because of the noise !
my local counsilors are now getting sick of it but again are powerless
and advice would be welcome

 move ? I wish

Besides chucking a bag of nails over the road where the problem is (dont), the only thing you really CAN do is keep phoning the coppers, and have any of your neighbours who find it annoying do the same. eventually the police will start going round and issuing ASBO's to the culprits - if exhausts are properly offensively loud they might end up with a vehicle defect rectification notice, which can take the car off the road until the problem is fixed.

Sorry to hear about the Anti social behaviour , you are suffering , I went through similar problems , it only came to ahead when I flipped and confronted them  , the Police were called and started to take the matter seriously , have you spoken with neighbours to get them on board  , keep calling the police , keep reporting to the council , film them and send footage to local press , write to your MP , I hope it gets sorted . Thankfully both neighbours I was having problems with have moved on , someone else,s problem now  .

I had this sort of thing all be it was guys playing football against my house wall, council gave me a book to keep records of when they done it, when I called the police or the anti social team at the council,  they all done foc all till I went to a lawer and got a letter sent to the council claiming for my time, stress and inconvenience of doing their job.
Amazingly, within a week of sending said letter, there was an asbo van with cctv parked nearby and never got anymore trouble. :)

With the feelings expressed here it is why I keep the standard exhaust on my bike. If the noise was not disturbing you I bet you could not give to Sh1ts about them enjoying themselves. They have had this sort of thing going on on the industrial estate I work at, the police took it seriously collecting all the cctv they could get. Hope it gets sorted out we all like a quiet neighbourhood to live in.

chris i  love the sound of a nice loud exhaust car or bike but when its on and off from 7ppm till 2am and byond mixed in with tyres screaming it doesnt take long to drive you up the wall
loud car and bike pass through all the time , ill listen  some sound good passing through isnt an issue

It was not a dig at you. I was taking a moment to point out that if its not your thing or the wrong time for some one noise is very annoying. Many of the best biking road run through lovely country villages and I would bet the sound of the increased traffic on a nice biking day really annoys the residents. So the trick is to do the best to make sure one persons fun does not upset another persons happiness.
They need to find a location out of every bodies way.

get the press on side, they will then generate interest from the local council who in turn will ask the local plod why it's not been sorted.
we had to do this with the local cruize gang who would scream around the local car park.
eventually the 5-0 turned up and started issuing rectification notices, catching a few untaxed/uninsured drivers and the local 'yute' moved off somewhere else.
it takes time but you will sort it out.
alternatively wander over with a sledgehammer and watch them scatter :rollin

I understood where you were coming from.
I always "tinckle" through the villages that are on a very good run (near you Chris.biker) as quietly as I can because I dont want any clamp-downs on the rest of the road which has already gone from national to 50 in places.
But alas i do seem to be in a minority, as I could be 1/4 of a mile in front of someone and then by the time i am out of the village and back to the 50 sign they are right up my arse - so clearly they were doing 50 through the 30 village to catch up.
Whats with those exhaust igniters then, what are they and who is selling them and is the whole point just to make a bang noise
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

You need an injunction:

http://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/thecouncil/news/features/?entryid148=163909&p=4

Not sure how long they take to set up, but it's probably a good idea for you & your neighbours to write to your MP. Try to get as many of them as possible to complain so it gets their attention. You could be waiting for a while though.

Failing that try a catapult & some ball bearings.

Next time they're making an extra loud racket, tell the old bill you think you heard gun shots.  :2guns

Who owns the industrial estate? Try telling them you are going to sue for noise pollution and see if they do anything.

if the estate is privately owned. Get a noise abatement order against them. It will be their problem to solve then.
