IOM TT 2015
« on: 29 April 2015, 11:26:27 pm »
Advice, Info and open invite.

I am thinking of taking a day trip on the 10th of June as a foot passenger. I've never been before and was wondering (from experienced TT goers) if it is worth £30-40 for a fanzone ticket, or if I should just go free spirit style and wing it when I get there.

Are there plenty toilet facilities? Is it easy to get about? The usual stuff to be considered for any event/festival.

Oh, and if any of you foccers fancy it... The ferry is about £60. Everything else is up to you.

Car pull's and so on could be arranged and meet in Heysham.

Have at it lads  :)

one of the joys of the TT was hiding in  a hedgerow for hours, listening for the wail of a flat out 4 cylinder bike then ........................... neeyooooonnnn, neeyooooonnnn.................neeyooooonnnn, neeyooooonnnn,..........................neeyooooonnnn, neeyooooonnnn, neeyooooonnnn, neeyooooonnnn, then wait for 17 minutes.
most of the best view points need transport to get to, so if you're on foot it's ago's, bray hill, quarter bridge, st ninians X roads or to be different, governers bridge.

Great spot that, when I was there we managed to get on the wee shed on the left at the bottom, sitting there we could see them coming down at warp speed and then wheelies up the hill as they put even more gas on :-)
I took my bike across but mates went on foot leaving their car on mainland, I had a great time as I could go round the course as well as visit all the other places on the island. I was also fortunate that a friend of a friend stays there and had a spare room, right on the course :-) so one day I just spent it sitting in the garden with a few glasses of cold beer as the bikes went whizzing by, great memories. You'll love it.
There's plenty of toilets, ie pubs and the likes, everyone is so nice and friendly, would highly recommend going at least once in your biking life :-)

you said a day pass?
Get over early, get pissed, have a great day, stay till last ferry or miss it and enjoy the night long entertainment lol
I never bothered with the fanzone thing, and we got up fairly close to the action, guess they'd be an argument for getting it but me being Scottish I thought how many pints could I get for that? :rollin

I am there from the 5th for 8 days. Camping at St George's AFC. On my own with my bike as a 50th birthday present.

Am I right in assuming you have to book either the ferry or camping, you can't just get on your bike and go last minute.com ?

I don't think you need to book, but you'll be frowned upon by any local authority finding you just pitching a tent in a field near the course, all the campsites are generally booked well in advance, but you might be lucky if you get online and email them as there might be cancellations etc
