You can record and watch.

A video can be recorded in 1080p but you can still watch in 720p if you want.

Either way 720p should be fine to read plates/signs. If you can it's probably more to do with poor quality video or vibration.

For 10 quid i doubt it will be fantastic and the Amazon reviews pretty much show this.

Ok for a bit of fun, but I wouldn't want to rely on the video for insurance purposes.

One more quick anecdote - 720p and 1080p define the SIZE of the video in pixels, not the quality of the image ;)

720p is 1280x720 pixels
1080p is 1920x1080 pixels

And no, the p does not stand for pixels ;)

I was refering to this
Quote
Set the Youtube playback setting to 720(HD)

I did and the playback quality was no that good and the reason for my interest was for insurance use
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

Similar reasons with me Sharpy, but for£20 all in I thought I'd take a punt. Should arrive today/tomorrow so will take a quick vid and post it up along with a couple of still frames from the vid.

I was thinking that if the quality wasn't 100% then I would be taking camera shots out of the car anyhows and the video would give the whole picture.

Let you know fella.

The 'P' stands for pyjamas, you will see a clearer picture if you watch playback in your pyjamas.

A mate has just bought one of these and its stuck to the side of his fairing. I've seen footage of him doing 150mph (private race track) and the footage is pretty impressive quality
http://www.amazon.co.uk/eSynic%C2%AE-Camera--Waterproof-Camcorder--Climbing/dp/B00GLPW3U8/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1427716026&sr=8-10&keywords=dvr+mini+9
It will need a good quality card. The battery seems to last for about an hour. The only negative being sound quality, or noise. It has the mike as part of the body so wind noise is a nuisance.

Not long set it up - Can't seem to get mine to record in anything but VGA. Will try again.

Okay, think mine is either a Chinese copy or an old one - mine doesn't have the same functions as the one in this link (look at 5mins onwards)

Still not a bad camera though for the money and is more than adequate for any insurance issue.

In those sorts of Amazon group buys, the items aren't always from the same seller / Merchant so often have different delivery methods and dates ;)

Standard SD size (aka not Micro or Mini)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transcend-Premium-Class-UHS-I-Memory/dp/B00B1862ZW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427201593&sr=8-1&keywords=32GB+SD+Card

Just noticed "frustration free packaging" for an extra £2.30 on top, does that mean they use their scissors to open the plastic packet, rather than you attempting to open it with your teeth whilst strapped up in a strait jacket???  :rolleyes

Ordered off Ebay eventually, even though i still haven't got my camera yet.  :\

Hong Kong used to be okay with post in the UK, but a workmate told me things have changed due to tighter security which is why it can take a bit longer now.
I reckon it'll turn up next week.  :thumbup

Dunno why i'm getting excited, i don't even drive, i'll set it up in my mums car.  :car
