Chain Riveter/Removal Tool

I need to replace the chain and sprockets on the fazer so need one of these tools.

If so how are they? Or any other recommendations?

I used one similar to the one i posted they do work take effort but easier than getting the grinder out.

I used that exact one a few months ago to install a new chain.  Put a bit of grease on the threads before you use it and as long as you're careful it does the job.  Just take your time and wear safety glasses just in case.  I used a dremel to take of the mushroomed ends of the hollow link to remove the existing chain and just used the tool to rivet the new one. 


Just make sure and use a vernier gauge to ensure that the link is flared to the required dimensions, either the dimensions were in the instructions with the chain or I got them from the DID chain instructions on their site , page 13-14 of this seems to be the one http://www.didchain.com/PDF/DID_2012usa_final.pdf.  If you're not using a DID chain then I'm sure you'll be able to find the flare dimensions for your chain on the manufactures site or in the instructions.

The one you are asking about jenic isn't up to any kind of abuse at all, the one Paulfzs put up would be more appropriate however the tool of professional choice is the whale chain breaker, obviously they are not as cheap as the others but they last as they are built to be twatted with a hammer to break chains and rivet them.

I never bother using my riveter to remove the old chain, because its being binned anyway I just cut straight through it with a grinder and slitting disc. I only even use the tool to rivet the new chains up

I should have been clearer, I am wanting the tool to rivet the new chain rather than just removed the old one. I'm happy to grind that off if needs be. I just need something to rivet the new chain at home.
