can anyone advise if an oxford v8 control box will replace a v5? as there does not seem to be any v5 boxes for sale.

If the v5 is the rotary switch  and the v8 the push button switch I'm told they are interchangeable

V5 is the old 2 button switch. V6 is the slightly less old 3 button switch. Either can be replaced with the V8, you just don't have a separate control box. Rotary switch is from the custom set.

Often it's those dodgy connectors rather than the unit. Having said that, the v8 unit is very good so a well worth swap

Correct! Because I have done just that.

Also dont bother with Oxford and thier stupid prices. The DrBike Unit is a direct replacement at a fraction of the cost and it is a rotary unit! I can provide pics!
