Antifreeze
« on: 03 December 2014, 03:47:46 pm »
So this morning, in my neck of woods, it was -1C and a thin layer of frost.
My Fazer (`98) is at moment grounded with radiator problem.
So ordered a replacement one...

After all that rambling what I wanna know is... Coolant... The usual blue one mixed with antifreeze or the pink stuff already mixed?

Cheers guys.

Just take care where you leave your coolant and dispose of the waste. My mum has just lost her cat from anti-freeze poisoning. Reckon one of her neighbours must have topped up or something for winter and left some about. Poor thing went down pretty bad in couple of days, went blind and finally into renal failure. :(

I will do, I have animals at home myself... Although its not just animal... Antifreeze kills humans as well... I seem to remember a curry fully loaded with it, in the news few years back...

Yes, remember not to add coolant to your curries as well, it kinda defeats the object if you like them hot & spicy.  :evil

I've seen the damage antifreeze causes when ingested , I was on the jury to that antifreeze in the curry case . she put that guy through hell and he was very lucky to survive, I believe his brother has since give him one of his kidneys so he's not on dialysis anymore  and along with the hearing implants he had put in he has regained some quality of life

Propylene glycol antifreeze is available which is nontoxic, it is an approved food additive. But it's not quite as good an antifreeze or heat transfer agent as ethylene glycol so not widely used
