I'd try 3 - 31/2 turns out.

I'd also consider reducing the needle shimming to 1.0mm higher than stock.

To give some background to this chaps recommendation - he's the main UK fitter of Ivans performance kits to FZS 1000s. I've got no idea how many he's done, but it's probably measured in hundreds by now - and I've never found anyone that has given the jetting anything other than a fantastic write up!

Thank u falcon,
I asked because some mentioned 2.5 turns out and some said 3. I don't have the 90 deg tool for turning that air fuel mixture screw once installed carb back, so I want get more suggestions esp from people that know the stuffs. I will try keep it 3 turns out with above config & shimmed with only 1mm thick washer under e-clip with that plastic spacer. Current situation my 1st carb seems always misfire and fouled the plug tht suspecting the float valve sleeve oring deteriorated and caused the fuel leakage into the cylinder. I would like to take the opportunity to reaffirm everything once carb out for cleaning.

Hi Nickpeh :)

I see you've also sought views on the FZ1OA.  Ravenrider is the guy to listen to about FZ1 carb jetting using parts other than Ivan's kits.  He's done a lot more tuning using stock & modded stock needles that me.

I appreciate you're attempting to richen up the low-mid range by raising the stock needles higher.  What you're doing will work reasonably well but there's always compromises doing it that way because of the stock needle profile.

My feeling is that 1.5mm is a bit too high; hence my suggestion to try a shade lower but with mixture screws out a bit more.  However, go with what RR advises. :)

Hi Falcon,

Noted, thx u for the suggestions. Raven actually suggest to change to 127.5 Mj for all with airbox mod as well, but since I already installed the 130 MJ, will just leave it and will try out what u suggested 1mm shimmed height on OE needle with air fuel mixture screw out by 3 turns.

Today I removed the carb assy for cleaning , found my OE needle got 5 slots and previous owner e-clip it at 3rd position from top, with plastic spacer and 1 washer below. The question is, how come stock needle got slots? It's written on the needle 129 for #1 & #4 , 130 for #2 & #3..is this the euro needle?

Yes, Euro needles. :)

Makes the adjustment process a lot easier having the 5 grooves for the e-clip.

Three from the top is the same as the standard non-adjustable US needle.  If you want to raise the needle, go to the 4th from top to place the needle 1.0mm higher.

Wow, zombie thread! :)

One turn is 360 degrees.
