I would say its a Pressure Gauge for measuring air pressure in blast hose and air hose.

Although it appears you are not the only person who has/had one and didnt get what it was for:

To be fair, the units on the gauge are a giveaway it's for measuring pressure of something or the other.

you could check your tyre presure with it, just stick through the tyre, for those who can't be bothered to undo the valve cap?

Football or rugby ball pressure gauge would seem obvious but the pressures are too high.
It would have to be something self sealing.

Its for checking water pressure in pipes, typically industrial. 7 Bar (red) = 100Psi. The "spikes" are used to push through "binder points"
Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.

Its got to be for liquid of some sort. Poking a hole into a gas pipe of some sort could result in a leak that you cannot see.

Well Mickvp and Panthor are on the right track, Rip-bits made stuff for mining, what this was used for was to check the pressure in the rubber air lines (bagging) that would be used for the rock drills, these lines would run for hundreds of yards or even miles so if you had a loss of pressure you could just stick it through the bagging to find the problem point, the fine hole left wouldn't let much air out or maybe it was plugged after?

AS MICKVP WAS THE FIRST HE HAS WON THE GAUGE...... JUST SEND ME £50 TO COVER POST, PACKING AND HANDLING CHARGE AND IT'S YOURS. LOL.

I never said it would work, but I might try it on my tyre just stab it in, when I'm getting a new tyre that is.
