Servicing
« on: 07 November 2016, 02:17:12 pm »
Hi guys

Looking to do a service on my Fazer soon:
Oil and filter change
Air filter
Spark plugs

Firstly I was wondering what else people would recommend normally changing as part of a service? And secondary what is the best spark plugs and air filter for my 2001 fazer?

Thanks guys, hope to see your responses ☺

Chain - check, adjust and clean/re-lubricate!

NGK CR8E plugs (or if your feeling flush with the cash)CR8EIX Iridium,i've never felt the need for them myself & K&N Air filter.

Maybe change the coolant/antifreeze if you don't know the age or strength.

and the wheel spindles.

Then set the TPS and balance the carbs.

few more. check and grease the wheel bearings. clean the brake calipers. lube the throttle and clutch cable. lube the clutch mechanism. check your front sprocket nut. change your fork oil. check tyres and tyre pressure. check valve clearance.

+1 for these plugs and filter. Motul oil and Hiflo oil filters are also good value for your money.

If you dont have full service history with bike I would work through all the service items described in the Haynes manual 0r owners instruction book.
You then have a datum(reference) point for future work on a mileage or elapsed time basis. Dont forget the bearing lube as others have mentioned & poss change the in line fuel filter.
