Can't help with your question but could I ask you how you knew you had it after your accident? What were the symptoms?

I had a lot of pain in my calf muscle, it was very tender to touch, and my leg had swelled up very badly, the skin was also red. In the accident I didn't hit my calf just the foot and lower leg/upper ankle.

my wife is a district nurse, she says you will walk again, could take a few weeks with treatment, but depends on how severe it is.

It could also be compartment syndrome. Google it.

Just to cheer you up, if a DVT dislodges, it can move up to your lungs and kill you

Got myself some DVT socks as I`m going to Cuba at the end of the month and with my dicky ticker and a ten hour flight I thought it would be a good idea.

My Dad and sister in law both had DVT's and they both became Pulmonary embolisms, which is when it goes to the Lungs, very painful. I think they both had to have Warfarin as a treatment to thin the blood.
