Much to my dismay I've spent much of today trying to figure out why I had no pressure in my rear brake after swapping out old brake pads for new. I eventually found that the upper sliding bolt is bent or not running straight, due to the caliper mounting ear (if that makes sense) which the sliding bolt goes through is slightly bent! Are these things made of putty? I cannot remember a single occasion where I feel I've placed enough force against the sliding bolts to bend the caliper like that.

Does anyone know how I can straighten it? Or is it a case of new caliper?

Only thing I can think that might have caused that is if the calliper hit a curb when the previous rider was filtering through traffic etc, but even then he/she would have had to hit it F***ing hard.

As its a brake I would advise NOT trying to bend that part of the caliper straight again as its likely been stresses and bending it back will stress it some more and if it dosen't snap now it might under braking etc.

Cheers bud,  bought one on ebay. Should sort out my issue and I'll have a rear brake again!  Cheers for everyones input, just a shame that a bend of 1mm ruins a perfectly decent caliper     oh well I guess its just one of those things!

I have ordered a replacement caliper, although am still waiting on it! Will let you know the outcome once I havd the replacement fitted bud

I just noticed, the above caliper wont fit your model as you have a gen1, if the picture in the OP is anything to go by.

Its for a gen 2, the link above is pretty much exactly what I've ordered, although with p+p mine was £1.50 cheaper (every little helps I guess)!
Just returned home from work to find a "left it at your neighbours" slip from parcel force. Will update once fitted and (hopefully) working.
Still can't fathom what bentcthe mounting ear on the original caliper though...

If the brake was binding while the bike was being ridden it's feasible for the whole assembly to get hot enough to warp components, some repairs may have been made but the caliper overlooked. The fact that there are no signs of damage would tend to rule out the caliper having been struck with enough force to bend it.

   Picture only shows one half of the caliper , the other half if showing any marks could have been hit by a disc lock . Or...the bent bolt don't look bent but is not even straight in the caliper as if cross-threaded .
