When I was in the JLR plant in Solihull, the guy I was working with got moved from the CMM machines I inherited to work with those as well, he says they are great machines :)

Getting old now though, we're looking to replace the touch probes with laser scanners which will reduce the cycle times by 80%. We also have one that's over 35 years old and made of granite. I kid you not. We have a similar promotional poster of it with an XJS!

Co-ordinate Measuring Machine.

Here's a good video of one in action:

Coordinate Measuring Machine, profile projector, digital readout, linear scale, Made in Taiwan

Seems very technical and interesting but in reality I hit 'Go' then fuck about on the internet for the next hour.  :D

I was a telephone technician and progressed to Technical Trainer mostly in IT Networking and Power Systems.

Part Time Evening Lecturer for 5 years in University College Cork, Lecturing to Post Graduates on Data Networking

Moved to the Local City Council as Network Administrator after 27 years in Telecoms

Looked for a transfer 4 years ago and I now Manage (with 9 staff) the Social Housing Tenants in 4500 properties in the North Side of Cork City.

Learned all about bike maintenance after being ripped off in a bike shop in 1978 and have never darkened the door of a bike service shop since. Now it is a hobby and help a local mechanic on dodgy electrics/electronics, fit or remove alarms and suspension help for those who need setting up for the Irish roads :lol

Yes, just like Slimwilly and Nick Crisp, I to have an NFDA degree:)

Currently a postgraduate finance student, coming towards the end of my masters!

Retired now but 43 years Marine Engineer /Cryo genic engineer. Last couple of years spent as commissioning engineer for Chinese shipping company , shipyard and putting vessels into service. Can honestly say the last slot proved to me that the Chinese are best suited to running a take away, they are fecking dangerous on an LNG gas tanker.
MT-09 Tracer for those who no longer can handle a BIG boy Fazer

sometimes i wished i worked the sewing machines (smaller ones for small parts) as then i could make trick bike parts at work, but since the machines i use are huge its not always easy :(

All that effort to make a few million bracelets. You learn so much on this forum
