Givi fitting kit
« on: 03 January 2012, 10:50:59 pm »
After doing a search online I have found that givi do not list a fitting kit for a pannier set (hard cases) so has anyone managed to fit a kit to their bikes? I have a fj1200 fitting kit along with a vfr750 fitting kit and some parts of a Kawasaki kit but are there any reasons why I should not fit the kit,ie fitting issues,I don't want to go down the route of soft throw overs as one the don't hold enough and two I want some security!my bike is a 2001 model

I have seen givi side box's on gen 1's before so i assume they do or at least did do fitting kits for them.
i have a givi rack fitted and it has lugs ready to attach side racks. thought about doing it but never had the spare cash when i have seen them on ebay for sale.

I thought Givi did a wing rack and a normal side case fitting kit. I have SW Motech kit on my Gen 1.

Givi only do a kit to fit with their rack not to fit side cases on their own.

Going back to the rack when I did a search all I found was a top box rack, with 2 side brackets that will take only cruiser panniers, not the mono key panniers, and for some unknown reason givi only list the side brackets for the 2003-2006 models only, not for the 2001 and 2002 models

That's correct something to do with weight on the rear of the frame.

Yeah, there's quite a low weight limit attached to the arms I've got, exceeded it without problems though, and as you can see, people have loaded them up too :)

i thinking of modifying one of the kits that i have and the arms of the rack im going to mount to the rear footrests, that should take a lot of the load from the subframe,in a similar way to how my vfr rack is fitted
