« on: 17 April 2014, 08:30:36 pm »

Seem to have half a key in the lock. And the thing is locked shut. How can I remove it?

If u got the snapped bit still.... Industrial super glu or liquid metal but I'd go for the super glue as it wont seep out so much when u hold it to dry. (And if u get the proper stuff "CA" from a modelling shop it will dry VERY QUICK) if of course u ask for the quick dryin stuff lol but if manage to foc it up new lock for 20 quidish.

Had to do this the other day,
The key has horizontal grooves down it, push the tab that protects the mech from dirt to one side, use super glue on an un bent paperclip and push it down the groove of the key.
If the mech is still locked then use two paperclips down both grooves to turn key to open!

You can then pull the broken bit out!

OK - sorted.

The box wasn't mounted on the rack, so I unscrewed the fitting bit from the underneath (4 screws) - a few springs and bits may free themselves..... A bit a wiggling and this can be removed.

The locking mechanism can them be 'opened' to reveal the rear of the lock barrel. Remove the circlip and the barrel can be removed - then just push the key back out.
