New keys
« on: 30 March 2014, 09:20:48 pm »
Howdy all,

I've lost the keys for my givi box and it is locked. Does anybody know if it's possible to get a new key to match the barrel (number 055) or have one lying around somewhere?

Would be a great help!

you could try this if you can't get a spare key, I've never tried it so don't know if it works?

I snapped the key off in mine once  :rolleyes

If it's one of the old ones (I think E36 type) then you can just lever the catch off with a screwdriver. A triumph mechanic showed me that...
It doesn't damage the catch at all and you can then just unscrew the lock from the inside of the case.

Givi sell new locks/keys I think mine cost about £20 from local dealer.

I got rid of mine soon after though, they're stupidly easy to break in to...

As to the original question, take it to local givi dealer, they should hopefully know what to do :)

Thanks all for the advice, but today's update is:

It was locked but is now unlocked and so can go down the new locket route through eBay etc. friendly local locksmith picked it.

So looks like for now I'm sorted!
