Bought an "oil extractor" thingy from Machine Mart and changed the oil on the Merc.
Took a while, but then I didn't have to roll around on the floor etc etc - ooh and no spills either  :lol :lol

I went to the Anglesey Circuit on the XJ600 to support three friends who were racing in the Wirral 100 Club meeting.Very mild, dry, no wind, some sunshine, perfect conditions. 164 miles in all.

Rode the Striple up to the Hartside cafe. Much better suited to these roads than the big Fazer, just feels like everything's a bit more in hand. Great road up there, but Sunday is obviously not a good day for it, as there were loads of chavved-up cars tearing up and down, barely keeping to their own side of the road. So my cunning plan is to do it again tomorrow, when it's supposed to be sunnier too  :D

Can't wait to get the Fazer back on the road though, cos I want to start doing longer runs into Jock land....bit more comfy than the Triumph, and easier to strap some luggage on if I want to B&B it.

And before that, for all you gardening fans, carried on with repainting shed no.2  :lol

Longest run on the Striple yet today, and they're not likely to get any longer! It's ok for about 150 miles, but after that, gimme back my Fazer!  :'( Route was Alston, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Brough, Hawes, Settle, Windermere, Kirkstone Pass and home. About 210 miles I think.

Not sure I've got the hang of catching the Yorkshire Dales on camera yet:

And all the best views were looking into the sun today, heading south. Brough castle, just a quick shot:

Pennines:

Pen-y-Ghent:

Church at Horton-in-Ribblesdale, with Pen-y-Ghent rising behind:

Heading up towards the Kirkstone Pass from Windermere:

And I'm now deaf, cos the Striple's pipe is embarrassingly loud!  :evil

Im still yet to make my first trip up to Hartside. This will be my first summer with a "big" bike so hopefully plenty of trips out and about the North East :)

It was only my second time up there yesterday, so I'm still taking it fairly easy until I'm more familiar with the roads, but that should come as it's only half an hour or so from me. Plenty to catch out the unwary! But some excellent bends on the way up too. I was missing my old local stomping ground dahn sarf (High Beach); looks like the Hartside will be the replacement, but bloody cold up there at times!

Wouldn't have minded seeing some photos of the Flying Scotsman though - or couldn't you keep up with it?  :lol

I did about 150 miles on the Striple today, which is much more realistic for it if I don't want to end up in pain  :lol  Route was Alston, Hexham, Stanhope, Middleton and home. This is the Triumph's proper hunting ground from now on I think. Absolutely gorgeous weather today  :D

Stopped at Derwent Reservoir:

And then got all arty-farty with the camera  :lol

And it's nice to enjoy some complete silence for a while:

Especially after the aural battering this bike subjects me to  :lol  I love it, like a symphony with the pipe, the transmission whine and the roar from the air box; it all builds to a howling crescendo when you wind it on, but by foc, it's deafening!

Cheers taylor, still just using the compact, haven't got to grips with the DSLR yet  :rolleyes
No straight roads along this reservoir, it's all very twisty, bit bumpy too. The Triumph's suspension is set up rock hard at the moment, and it's rattling my fillings out! Must get round to having a fiddle with it.

On the subject, is it just me that thinks they should have repainted it in the same green it was when it served the LNER, complete with it's 4472 no.? That's how I always picture it anyway.
Where did you see it dick? Once it's installed at York, I'll definitely need to do a trip to the railway museum.

I too liked the old number...not sure why it wasn't retained.
It's on the North York's Moors railway this week till Sunday.
