I still love the car and it really isn't the car that's causing me the stress. I know full well that things may go wrong when doing any sort of work on a vehicle and I accept that. The stress is coming from the pressure of the Management Agency for the building (I'm in a flat with an en-bloc garage).

The costs I've put in to the car are still worth it, despite it costing way more than I had anticipated when I started in September.

Talking of another car though... it's likely I will be buying my friends car from him as well. It's a ridiculously good deal that I can't say no to - its a Mazda RX-8. They have their quirks, but they shouldn't really affect me plus I know its history of the past 2-3 years and what work has been done to it etc etc

Any foccers fancy helping me move house in Feb? :P
RX8 eh......ooooh very nice sir.........suits you sir...............but why keep the MG then?.....coz you wanna I suppose :lol............I'd like an RX-8 but sadly im now stuck with cars that can easily accommodate a baby seat....pah....oh well maybe when im in my 40's.

yeh these management thingies are stressful....but they kinda have their uses such as stopping the neighbours with mahoosive caravans parked right outside your house etc....it's amazing what you'll find in the small print of title deeds even as an owner....shed can only be so tall and so big compared to size of garden, no work vans, boats, trailers, caravans, ice cream vans, hot dog stands, kennels etc etc......it's basically because generally people cant be trusted to do things in moderation and use a bit of common sense so in the end it is blanket punishment. :(

Picked up cage no. 2 today :)

Finally have a car (54 plate RX-8) to get around and make use of... including picking up the new gearbox for the MG :)

Evening all, first things first, piccies!

Mazda RX-8
Mazda RX-8

Mazda RX-8
Mazda RX-8

In other news... the MG LIVES!!! sort of...

The reason the pictures were late is that I've spent most of the day reassembling -everything- on the ZS. Finally got to a point of being able to start it. It was pretty rough running and I was concerned for a bit, but after 1/4 mile of its inaugural test drive with the new parts it cleared its throat and we were off :)

Its very loud at the moment (given that the exhaust is still a problem) and it's a bit vibey - but that could be down to the exhaust. The idle speed is rather fast at the moment - nearly twice as fast as standard so I'll be doing some research and checking that out.

The downside however... the radiator is leaking... looks like the engine did some damage when it was being put back in to the engine bay. So, going to need to buy a new one before doing anything long distance. It's good to have it running though, but I've left it parked around the corner to satisfy the evil menace that has been complaining and the estate agents.

It's not the sort of thing I would usually go for, but I just couldn't say no to the deal - it was somewhat of a steal ;)

The MG will sit still for the next few months until I can get round to replacing the radiator without incurring further wrath ;)

Nice clean looking RX.

MG sure sounds ratty, is the exhaust blowing or is it very rattly hydraulic tappats trying to build up oil pressure

The exhaust has rotten through such that the back box is no longer connected... plus I lost one of the nuts that holds the exhaust to the manifold and didn't renew the gaskets so its probably blowing there as well. It's not ideal, but the car won't be doing mega-mileage and I will be booking it in to have an entirely new stainless steel system as soon as I replace the radiator and fix the idle :)

Oddly, in that video the idle is at about the right speed, it was only later on that it started to have issues. I've got plenty to check though to make sure.

Dealing with the radiator should give me a chance to look in to sorting a cold air feed for the air intake. The existing setup is atrocious

High idle be cause by the exhaust with the ECU trying to regulate fuel for the lean burning due to the exhaust blowing confusing the O2 sensors.

The major problem is behind any of the O2 sensors but I'll admit the manifold connection could be a problem...

I'd like to rule out as many of the other possibilities as I can first though as I'd prefer to get the exhaust changed without this as a problem to ensure any tuning isn't skewed.

Also, wouldn't the O2 sensors trigger an engine management light? I guess this is technically at the other end of the spectrum for readings but still...

It might eventually, but if the O2 sensors are working it will try and compensate.
If the O2 sensors were faulty it will show the light immediately.

Mild, dry day. 80 miles in total, over to Oswestry down the Tanat valley, over the Berwyns to Bala, back to Wrexham via Llandegla. Traffic free roads, one reason I enjoy riding in the winter. Just hosed the bike down and dried it with the pet drier.

Spent the weekend farting around with me Ute.

Tub liner off, reversing camera cables routed through bodywork, wire for tub LED lights down the same path, camera connected to reversing light supply, tub liner back on, LED strips for tub wired into cab light, door panels off, new speakers fitted, door liners back on, stereo fitted, cab gubbins re-fitted, bumper off, new headlights fitted, bumper back on and finally oil & air filters changed.

Ah, thank fook that's over.

I'll get some photos up when it's dark, let me see what the lights actually look like too.
:D

Drove it up to the top of the Kirkstone Pass, Lake District, and generally around the lakes and fells (never driven the car around there before).

First time I've been up there in the winter too; thoroughly enjoyed a bit of slogging in the snow, though I didn't have the proper footwear for it and was limited for time.
