Something A Bit Different
« on: 30 December 2013, 03:58:51 pm »
Hi Guys.

As some of you will recall .. I ride a HPS (high performance sidecar) outfit,  the 'Spanish Dancer'.  It is based on a big fat Honda CB1300S .. the Beaufort end can is set on the right .. not alongside the sidecar and it's stamped up, officially fully road legal .. but it does sound quite 'throaty'  :rolleyes

In February/ March I will become the proud owner of a Swiss Shepard Dog, (All White Alsation) pup .. he will be almost fully grown by summer .. within a few short months.

I have ideas for a fixed harness to keep him safe and comfortable behind the screen inside the open top cheir.   Rainbow Annie (my much better half) will be moving back up .. onto the pilion seat (so the 'navigation system' will get much more physical  :\  )

My only real concern is:  Will the 'music of the motor' damage the dogs hearing .. or are these animals able to shut down and adjust as requred?

Your opinions, advice, expert info, etc will be much apreciated  :D .

Cheers Guys .. I'll look out for the feedback.

As Always .. Stay Safe  ;)    Trev    (The Polar Bear in Spain)

My neighbour had 3 legged poodle that sits in a pet tailpack on his valkyrie. I asked him about this when I first saw it, but they cope with it quite well apparently (dogs putting their head out of car window at high speeds?)
You know you've got to get your shep wearing a pair of doggles and a leather flying hat!
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

Your dog should be fine with the noise. I've never had a gundog go deaf on me yet, well, only when they decide to ignore me  :o .

All the best with your pup, stay safe. Russ ( soaked to the arse in Scotland )  ;)
Better to stand and look a fool than speak and prove it !
If it aint broke, I'll fix it till it is !!

I knew a guy who rode everywhere with his Jack Russel in a tankbag.

But he managed to launch his bike, with dog over a drop on the Cat n Fiddle. The dog was found 2 weeks later at a local pub, the bike was a write off!

Thanks for the replys Peeps.

Over here in Spain the National Traffic Cops are a law unto themselves .. on a good day they will salute and wave me on (and of course I reply accordingly  :) )

However on a bad day .. they pull me over insist on seeing every bit of paper  :evil  and then take photo's of the rig .. for free!

So .. I will not be surprised if the Dog has to wear a Gold Badge Hemet too.

Stay Safe  ;)   Trev

I've never thought about that before, after all you wouldn't let the missus on the bike without a helmet!

As you know .. Spain is part of the EU .. the poor part  :\ .

UK & EU Laws state that a sidecar passenger does NOT need to wear a lid.  I check this from time to time
in case the powers that be change things without warning .. as they do!

Of course Rainbow Annie would not go near any Bike, Trike or Sidecar unless she was wearing her AGV Rossi Rainbow Special!

However .. apparently the Police here have not been informed about the EU thing .. so everyone is required to wear a Lid .. unless they are under 16 and undercuting everything on their mate's moped. Crazy Days.

By the way .. I find this idea of a Dog Buggy very interesting .. it could be very beneficial to big powerful adult dogs that like plenty of exercise and knackered up old men who don't  :\    Watch this space.

Stay Safe Guys  ;)    Trev
